Powder Coating Technician

Position Summary

Taylor Coatings is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Powder Coating Technician to prepare, coat, and inspect fabricated metal components in a fast-paced industrial finishing environment. This position supports both our automated monorail system and manual batch-coating operation, working on projects ranging from custom components and prototypes to recurring high-volume production runs.

The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, follows established safety and production procedures, and works effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Properly prepare metal surfaces for powder coating (cleaning, masking, and pre-treatment)
  • Apply powder coatings using spray guns to ensure even coverage and smooth finishes
  • Monitor curing ovens and adjust processes as needed to meet specifications
  • Inspect finished products to maintain high-quality standards
  • Rack, hang, and unload parts efficiently while preventing defects
  • Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting coating equipment
  • Operate forklifts and assist with material handling as needed
  • Support fixture design and equipment maintenance
  • Stage deliveries and prepare parts for shipment (banding and prepping)
  • Log on and off jobs accurately
  • Maintain a clean work area (including machines, tools, and equipment)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in powder coating preferred but training is available for the right candidate.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods, lifting parts, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform precise and accurate work
  • Forklift experience required
  • Manufacturing or shop environment background preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptable with the ability to change direction quickly as tasks evolve

Physical and Work-Environment Expectations

This position involves regular standing, walking, reaching, bending, and handling industrial components. Employees must be able to safely move job-related materials with appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment when required.

The work is performed in an industrial environment where employees may encounter heat, noise, dust, powder-coating materials, moving equipment, and changing production conditions. Required personal protective equipment and established safety procedures must be followed at all times.
